Justin Liles: Windy weather, cold, and snow

December 3rd: Windy, cold, and more snow

Windy, cold, and more snow

We are going to be looking at winter induced headaches over the next 24-60 hours. There are many headlines now ranging from a Winter Storm Warning to a Wind Advisory. A winter system will move through the Minnesota Borderlands and Arrowhead through tonight. Some heavy snowfall along with some strong winds will create poor travel conditions along the higher terrain of the Northshore from Silver Bay to Grand Portage.

Strong winds tomorrow and heavy snow will be in two phases: 1) North Shore will be tonight into Wednesday morning, 2) The South Shore snow machine turns back on Wed & Thurs. Heavy snow up to a foot or more of snow is possible for the snowbelt through midday Friday.

These winds along with colder temperatures will bring in wind chills Wednesday that will range from the -10° to -25°. It will be the warmest early Wednesday morning and temperatures will free fall throughout the day. These high winds out of the northwest, much colder air, and a warmer Lake Superior will shift the heavy snow to the south shore again. Iron County along with the U.P. of Michigan may see up to a foot or more of snow through midday Friday. Warmer weather and pleasant conditions return this weekend.
