Kids at North Star Academy surprised with new Crocs on Unity Day

Crocs donates to kids at North Star Academy

On Unity Day at North Star Academy, a look at a special delivery of Crocs for a third grade class.

A special delivery on Wednesday at North Star Academy. Kids in Ms. Kali’s 3rd grade class all received new, white Crocs!

Kali Bergerson loves Crocs herself. And she noticed most of her kids wore them each day.

So she organized a Croc day. There were special t-shirts made for the kids. They also had someone read Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

Before hand, she asked the kids to write what they liked about Crocs. She sent those letters to Crocs.

And they responded with new Crocs and so many Jibbitz to decorate them with. “It got really big, really fast,” Ms. Kali said. “I’m so excited for the opportunity to do this.”

The kids got the surprise during math and writing lessons on Wednesday, which also happened to be Unity Day.

On Unity Day, everyone was encouraged to wear orange, to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Pre-K-5th grade Academy Director Ryan Dickinson added, “We tell all our teachers the first month of school we really want them to focus on building the community and culture within their classrooms.”

North Star is part of the Duluth Edison Charter Schools.
