Klobuchar and White secure spots on November ballot
Unofficial results in Tuesday’s Minnesota primary election show voters are choosing to send incumbent Senator Amy Klobuchar back to ballot in November on the Democratic side of the ticket. The Associated Press called the race for Klobuchar at 8:21 p.m. on August 13.
Klobuchar was the first woman elected to represent Minnesota as a United States Senator. She has serve served in the role since 2007.
On the Republican side of the ticket, voters are backing Royce White. The Associated Press called the race for White at 9:44 p.m. Joe Fraser received the second most votes in the GOP primary.
“While I am disappointed that tonight’s results did not go our way, I am also saddened that our ability to compete in the general election and bring about real change to our state has been thwarted by our party’s embrace of an unelectable candidate,” Joe Fraser said in a statement. “I still believe Minnesota’s best days are ahead of us. Unfortunately, with Royce White at the top of the statewide ticket this fall, those days will most likely be delayed for years as Minnesotans look elsewhere for real leadership.”
White was born and raised in the Twin Cities and later went on to play in the NBA for multiple years after first being drafted by Houston Rockets. HE later went on to play in the National Basketball League of Canada.
Voters will choose between Klobuchar and White to represent Minnesota on the November 5 election.
