Land of the Loon celebrates Iron Range this weekend
Land of the Loon will reunite Rangers in Virginia on Saturday and Sunday.
Co-coordinator Luke Chopp said the festival is a great tradition going for 46 years now.
“It’s really to celebrate the melting pot of cultures and ethnicities we have here on the Iron Range and putting that into festival form,” Chopp said.
The highlights are more than two dozen food vendors and over 100 art and craft vendors.
“What I love about the festival, it’s all handmade items. And there’s no buy-and-sell at this festival. There’s a limited number of duplicate food items, so there’s literally something for everyone here,” Chopp said. “It’s a great way to find a Father’s Day gift and a great place to celebrate, especially on Sunday with the classic car show.”
One advantage to the 2024 Land of the Loon festival is that it does not overlap with Grandma’s Marathon weekend in Duluth.
“It’s nice because this year, we’ll have everyone here that wants to come down, which makes it even more of a fun reunion for everyone,” Chopp said.
There is a parade at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, then Land of the Loon will take over Olcott Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
