Light After Loss Mn Memorial Walk 2024 coming up Sunday in Virginia
The Light After Loss Mn Memorial Walk 2024 is on Sunday afternoon in Virginia’s Olcott Park.
Come meet other families who’ve dealt a a pregnancy loss. “It can be an isolating time,” explained founder and president Nina Pleshe. “So we encourage people to come out and experience our support and in remembrance of our babies.”
From support groups to comfort care packages at the hospitals, their empathy comes from lived experience.
Nicole Fagerstrom, the group’s secretary, told us, “Last year was within the first year that we had lost Calvin. So it was really heavy. It will still be heavy, but it will be a celebration that I made it another year without him. And it’s important to be able to figure out how to live and honor him.”
A new board member, Stephany Vesel, was at last year’s walk. She’s looking forward to introducing herself to people. “I want them to know I’m here for them,” she told us.
It’s also a way to give loved ones a chance to lift one another up. “I have parents and in-laws and aunts and uncles who want to do something as well. It’s an opportunity for the kids to remember their sister. And events like this are good to remember,” Talia Sandys said. She’s the group’s treasurer.
