Local Habitat for Humanity leader reflects on the legacy of Jimmy Carter
Reflection on the loss of Jimmy Carter from a leader from Habitat for Humanity.
For decades, Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter have helped shine a light on Habitat for Humanity. Now, that large network is mourning their loss.
“It’s a sad time, but what an example for us to follow,” shared Nathan Thompson, the Executive Director of the North St. Louis County Habitat for Humanity. He said he remembers hearing both Carters speak at a conference.
“He inspired us all, as only you can imagine. President Carter spoke first, and then Mrs. Carter came up to speak. And he adjusted the microphone for her,” he recalled.
He also volunteered at a Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project in the cities in the fall.
