Local veterans remember Dan Knight

The American Legion Post 435 and the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center hosted a Flag of Remembrance and Missing Man ceremony on Friday. The event honored superior native Dan Knight, a veteran who died in May 2023 without any end-of-life services. Knight was a former commander of the Richard I Bong American Legion Post 435, a longtime volunteer at the Bong Center, and part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. 

Officials from the event said that they hold these events every Friday, whether they have a specific person to honor.  “It is a tradition that we do it” said John Vaski, the Douglas County Commander. “If it’s a lot of snow or rain or 30 below, then we go downstairs and we do the same thing.”
