Lutsen Mountains to purchase Superior Ridge Resort
Superior Ridge Resort, in operation since 1993, is due to transfer ownership over the next few months to longtime community-based business Lutsen Mountains.
Superior Ridge Resort is a family-operated 12-acre property along Highway 61 up the North Shore and boasts of Lake Superior’s exquisite views.
The resort houses various accommodations, including single and double-room condos complete with a kitchenette to a standard queen room with a microwave and mini fridge.
Bruce Martinson, one of the current owners, has stated, “We have devoted much of our lives building and operating Superior Ridge and many of our fondest memories of raising our three children revolve around the Resort. Sheryl and I are delighted too that the Resort is being purchased by a community-based business. We have worked closely with Lutsen Mountains over the years and this partnership has been part of the success of our lodging operation. Knowing Lutsen Mountains, we are confident that Superior Ridge will be maintained to a high standard.”
President and Owner of Lutsen Mountains, Charles Skinner, has also communicated his plans for the resort, stating, “We are thrilled that Superior Ridge Resort will be joining our family of resorts. Bruce and Sheryl have done an amazing job building their resort over the decades while being inspirational leaders in our community. Bruce and Sheryl are ‘salt of the earth’ type people who we feel privileged to have worked with and are honored to be entrusted to continue their legacy at Superior Ridge.”
The property’s planned closing is due to be completed by May of 2023. Until then, the current owners, Bruce and Sheryl Martinson, and their partners John and Sherry Murphy, will operate the resort through the remainder of winter into spring.
