Man nearly drowns on Caribou Lake
On Saturday at 7:16 pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call on Caribou Lake in Canosia Township. There was a report of an Esko man, 64, with difficulty breathing after falling off a jet ski.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the man was not wearing a personal floatation device while riding a jet ski. The jet ski flipped, and the man fell off.
A good Samaritan saw the man struggling to stay above water, responded on his jet ski, and pulled the man from the water and to shore. Medical personnel attended to the man, and he was transported by Mayo Ambulance to Essentia Health Duluth. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the man lost consciousness on shore but was stable at the time of transport.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone of the dangers of being on our abundant, beautiful waterways while not wearing a personal floatation device.
