Man sentenced for 2019 murder
James Michael Peterson was sentenced to 346 months in prison for the September 22, 2019, murder of Timothy Jon Nelson. Peterson was convicted of aiding and abetting murder in the second degree on September 23, 2022, after a week-long trial.
Peterson is the final co-defendant to be sentenced for the murder of Nelson.
In October of 2020, co-defendant Christopher Floyd Boder was convicted of aiding and abetting murder in the second degree and sentenced to 306 months in prison.
“This was a senseless and avoidable decision by Peterson and Boder that ended with a tragically permanent result. That decision not only ended the life of Nelson, but his loved ones lost a piece of their lives as well,” said Criminal Division Head Nathaniel Stumme who prosecuted both cases.
