Man sentenced in Hoyt Lakes overdose death
Carter Ryan Galo, 26, was sentenced Monday to 135 months (over 11 years) in prison in the overdose death of Korryn Elizabeth Lee Sorenson, according to St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki.
Galo plead guilty of Third Degree Murder without intent in connection with the death of Korryn Sorenson on March 13, 2023.
According to court documents, law enforcement were called to an apartment on Dorchester Drive in Hoyt Lakes for a possible overdose death early on January 29, 2022. Authorities investigated and determined that the drugs that caused the fatal overdose were provided to Sorenson by Carter Galo.
Multiple family members and friends of Korryn Sorenson read impact statements at the sentencing on Monday. According to Maki, the victim impact statements described Ms. Sorenson as having a fun personality and that she could light up any room.
The Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force assisted in the investigation.
