Minnesota DFL may soon circulate “Missing Congressman” posters throughout the 8th District

Residents of Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District may soon see hundreds of yard signs that suggest Rep. Pete Stauber is missing from representing his region.

Governor Tim Walz is set to host a town hall in Rochester on Saturday, Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District represented by Rep. Brad Finstad. Ahead of the visit, the Minnesota DFL Party shared two “Missing Congressman” posters, alleging Finstad and Stauber were “last seen trying to gut Medicaid and cut taxes for billionaires.”

“We know that Brad Finstad and Pete Stauber won’t be found at a town hall any time soon, so we’re taking action today to help their constituents search for them,” said Minnesota DFL executive director Heidi Kraus Kaplan in a press release. “Finstad and Stauber were last seen trying to gut Medicaid and food assistance programs that thousands of their constituents rely on. Members of the public are advised not to spook either man with tough questions about why they are trying to rip health care away from thousands of working families in their districts.”

The Minnesota DFL Party is alleging that the National Republican Congressional Committee has instructed GOP Representatives to avoid town halls, due to what they say is widespread backlash against the Republican party since President Trump’s election.

In response, Communications Director Kelsey Emmer shared the following statement for Rep. Pete Stauber.

“This week, Congressman Stauber has been busy traveling throughout the vast district he represents, meeting with constituents and listening to their priorities. He is focused on the job at hand and is paying no attention to the left-wing extremists and paid agitators who are more interested in manufacturing outrage than having meaningful conversations about policy.”

There is no word yet if the Governor plans to hold a town hall in the 8th Congressional District in the near future.
