Minnesota’s launch of the electric-assisted bike rebate application program has been postponed hours after its first attempt to launch Wednesday June 6th.
The state’s website crashed within minutes of going live. The Minnesota department of revenue said they are experiencing technical issues and are working on fixing it. They have not said when they will be accepting applications again.
The state has earmarked 2 million for rebates to offer discounts of up to 1,500 on qualifying e-bike purchases. The system was set up on a first-come, first-served basis with a cap of 10,000 applications.
The program aims to promote more environmentally friendly travel by reducing the cost of an e-bike.
