Minnesota Power/ALLETE giving donations to local nonprofits

Minnesota Power/ALLETE is getting into the giving spirit this holiday season by donating to local nonprofits. The company is donating $10,000 to help fight food insecurity, but also supporting youth programs.

Minnesota Power/ALLETE is donating $5,000 to the Family Freedom Center, which supports kids in Duluth’s Central Hillside Neighborhood. Then $2,5000 is going towards the Damiano Center Kids Kitchen, they provide nutrition education and healthy meals to kids after school and during the summer. Also another $2,500 will be donated to the Chum Food Shelf, to provide boxes of healthy foods for families several times a week.

“Community and sustainability are at the heart of what we do every day at Minnesota Power and
ALLETE,” said Bethany Owen, ALLETE chair, president and CEO. “In this season of giving, we wanted
to support and sustain the important work of our nonprofit neighbors in downtown Duluth who assist
people in need year-round and help make our community a place where everyone can thrive. We hope
these donations will make a meaningful difference.”

Minnesota Power/ALLETE provides electric service within a 26,000-square-mile area in northeastern Minnesota. This includes an estimated 150,000 customers, 14 municipalities and several industrial customers in the United States.
