Did you know? The Duluth Airshow and Expo brings around $20-million to the area and over 75% of people attending are from out of town.
This year, organizers are excited to try something new to get the local families involved. Media Director Jodi Grayson says “we’re trying to do some more events in the community. So this Friday we will be having a community event where the performers will be down at movies in the park, and Top Gun will be shown, of course, leading into the big Airshow weekend.”
Located at the Duluth International Airport, gates will open at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday with the first performers flying at 11 a.m.
More exciting news, the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels are back! The last time the Blue Angels were at the airshow was in 2021, that year the show broke 30,000 attendees.
While in big crowds during summer days, Jodi wants to stress the importance of safety.
Here are some tips to staying safe during the show:
- Bring earplugs, this is especially important for kids
- Pack sunscreen and layers
- Make sure to bring a chair
- Plan before you park, there is a lot of construction in the area
