Motorcycle riders injured Monday afternoon in Cloquet

Two motorcyclists are recovering in the hospital after their vehicle lost control on the roundabout intersection of southbound Highway 33 to Interstate 35 in Cloquet Monday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Harley Davidson entered the intersection and lost control due to an oily substance in the road.

The 48-year-old driver from Virginia is said to have non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, a 39-year-old also from Virginia, is facing life-threatening injuries and was sent to Essentia Health St. Mary’s hospital.

The State Patrol says both were not wearing their helmets at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not considered a factor.
