Munger Trail Connection Project plans get more feedback

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa hosted an open house to get input on their current plans for the Munger Trail Connection Project on Thursday April 3rd.
The Munger Trail goes all the way from Duluth to Hinkley spanning across Carlton County. One of the problems has been that people in Scanlan and Cloquet haven’t had an easy way to access the trail.
“The first meeting we had was centered around just as many alternatives as possible,” said Adam McGill the project manager for KLJ Engineering. “And now we’ve taken all that information from the first meeting, and we’ve selected what we are proposing as our preferred option that we think meets most people’s objectives and wants for this trail.”
The Munger Trail Connection Project aims to expand access to the trail by adding access points in key areas. By providing easier access to the trail, they hope to give commuters another option.
“It’s a wonderful, separated nature trail that goes through the countryside away from the sounds of traffic, said McGill. “It’s away from the concerns of walking on a sidewalk next to 50 mph traffic. You can feel more comfortable in nature too.”
Some key areas being focused on are the fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College and the Black Bear Casino.
