New Haven withdraws rezoning request for housing development
New Haven is withdrawing their rezoning request with the Duluth City Council. The rezoned area would be for their housing development Bald Eagle Estates near Hawk Ridge. The developer for the proposed Bald Eagle Estates withdrew the application to rezone Friday morning.
The Bald Eagle Estate development will not be on the agenda tomorrow for tomorrow’s City Council meeting. Nick Ericson, the president of New Haven LLC sent a statement to the City Council regarding their future housing development. “We no longer have the use that we need to construct the clubhouse, maintenance building and playfield. In a manner which protects the future residents from potential injury lawsuits.”
Ericson also continued his comments about the concerns of the playfield at the future Bald Eagle Estates. “It cannot be opened to the general public, but can be opened to members. It was our intention to offer the use to the neighboring Home Owner’s Association a membership via a contract. Which would require that they pay the additional insurance cost that would be related to their use.”
The project will go back to City Council for a subdivision process, as New Haven withdraws their rezoning request. For more information on about the Hawk Ridge Estates Association you can read more here. Also for the story about the Bald Eagle Estates project you can read more here.
