New, state-of-the-art Chisholm Public Safety Center ready for service

Excitement for new Public Safety Center for Chisholm

Fire, police, and ambulance are ready to move into the new Public Safety Center in Chisholm.

With a fire hall built during the horse and carriage days, Chisholm was looking for a new space for public safety.

The police department is also in rough shape, and the ambulance service area is actually a garage.

Now, they’ll all be in one, state-of-the-art space on the edge of town. The 23,000 square foot space is designed with health and wellness and security in mind. There’s even a Mother’s Room.

An open house gave people a chance to check things out on Tuesday afternoon.

Mayor Adam Lantz, who’s also a firefighter/EMT, said the plan is to be all moved in by early next week.

He added that it will mean faster response times for the public, and a better work environment for public safety.

The nearly $12 million dollar cost was covered by bonding money and Congressional spending.
