Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps celebrates new beginnings
Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps held an open house to tour their new building on Sunday afternoon. Located in Morgan Park, the building will act as the non-profit’s homebase. Once completed, the building will host a variety of community spaces. They also hope to renovate the apartments in the building to host their AmeriCorps members.
Prior to the purchase of the building, Northern Bedrock had been renting spaces around the Twin Ports area. “Our needs really have grown past what we rent in Hillside, so we started looking for new spaces,”’ said Charley, Langowski, Executive Director of Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps. “This one had been on the market for a while and had apartments which really caught our eye. And then when we toured it, we found a layout that really worked well with our needs and absolutely love that it’s a historic structure in a historic community that needs a chance to be activated again.” While there is not yet a specific timeline for when the building will be complete, Langowski stated that the group hopes to fully run their field season out of the new space by June of 2024.
