Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps hosts gear donation drive
For the first two weeks of March, Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps is accepting donated goods to support their program.
They are looking for gently used camping gear, hand and power tools, old cell phones, and apartment furniture. Donations can be dropped off at their newly acquired building in Morgan Park.
The building will provide a small number of housing units for their AmeriCorps volunteers. They are looking for household items to furnish these apartments (dishes, lighting, furniture, etc.) and any other items that would support other aspects of their AmeriCorps program.
While the AmeriCorps volunteers serve at their project sites, they camp in the field for 9 days at a time. NBHPC is asking for donations of camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, etc.) to loan out to their crews. They are also seeking lightly used power tools and hand tools for their service projects.
Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps is a nonprofit organization that focuses on historic preservation trades training.
They have an AmeriCorps training program that engages young adults, 18-25 years old, to teach them preservation trade skills at historic sites that need repairs all throughout Minnesota.
They connect their crews with Technical Instructors who are experts in their respective trades for valuable coaching and networking opportunities.
Additionally, they manage two historic properties, host public workshops for all ages, and serve the community however they can.
