Northern Lights Foundation growing through community support
A child facing a life-threatening illness is heart-breaking.
It’s hard for parents or care givers to know how to help, when they need help themselves.
For ten years now, the Duluth-based Northern Lights Foundation has been there for those children and their families. The foundation has given financial assistance in the form of grants to hundreds of Northland families.
The foundation’s 10th annual children’s charity gala fundraiser was held at the DECC. Dr. Ken Larson is the founder and president of the foundation. He said it’s events like this that they are able to raise the money to give to families.
“We give out grants to families with a child facing a life-threatening illness,” he said. “My heart is humbled with the continual support we receive from our sponsors, businesses, volunteers and local supporters year after year.
This year’s gala held at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention center featured a social hour with over 100 silent auction items, dinner, formal program, awards and live auction.
Larson said the gala is their largest fundraising event for the foundation. “My heart is humbled with the continual support we receive from our sponsors, businesses, volunteers and local supporters year after year.”
