The diamond at Wade Stadium was being put to good use on Wednesday evening as the Northern Lights Foundation held its 14th annual Badges, Ball, and BBQ Charity Softball Game featuring Duluth and Superior Police and Fire Departments.
Northern Lights helps to provide grants to local families with children with life-threatening illnesses.
Christy Strohm, the coordinator for the annual event, shared her emotions with the connection that the foundations, police, and firefighters all have in common.
The more stories and interviews I hear with firefighters and police officers really get me choked up because they are out there saving lives every single day. That’s what the Northern Lights Foundation is trying to do too and also provide hope and light to these families that are going through such a tragic time.”
To this date, the foundation has granted over half a million dollars locally to children.
