After announcing that Northland College is closing its doors after this school year, the Athletics department has decided to cancel this year’s softball season.

According to a press release, the decision was made in the best interests of student-athletes.

“I want to thank Coach Dana Wiezorek and the current student-athletes for staying at Northland and seeking the opportunity to play,” stated Athletics Director Dan Schumacher. “Unfortunately, with the closing announcement, the team has lost several players, which has required us to forfeit the season due to a lack of roster numbers. I want to wish all the best to the student-athletes and coaching staff as they move on to future opportunities.”

The College’s Athletics department thanks everyone who has supported the softball team throughout the years.

The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and have competed in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
