Northland trucking company transporting Duluth church hurricane relief donations
Earlier in October, Eastridge Community Church began collecting donations to help in recovery efforts for the hurricanes that devastated the southeast United States. After weeks of collecting, they’ve now amassed two semi-trucks worth of supplies that will be transported down to North Carolina.
The supplies were fully loaded onto trucks belonging to Kivi Bros Trucking. Drivers with Kivi Bros will now be driving the trucks down to the impacted areas for free.
“We’ve never been asked to do this before, said Michael Hansen, Director of Fleet Operations with Kivi Bros. “It was all Eastridge Church and my sister kind of setting this off and they just asked if we would donate some trucks to get, you know, the goods they were trying to raise [and] if we would truck it down there for them.
Hansen continued, “We have lots of drivers down there, lots of family down there, a lot of customers down there and just other Americans down there needing help. So, we thought it was a great opportunity for us to use the resources we have to help other people.”
The trucks are carrying food for people and animals, lots of water, medical supplies, camping supplies and much more.
“I mean you name it. There was tons of stuff; stuff I didn’t even think about [like] books for kids, lots of boots, lots of clothing. There was a whole pallet of shoes donated. That was really cool,” said Hansen.
A third truck loaded with 32 hay bales, for livestock and other uses, is also being transported by a Kivi Bros driver.
