One injured in Cass County shooting

A 34-year-old man was flown to a Fargo, North Dakota hospital after being shot in Powers Township in Cass County, Minnesota on Thursday, February 13. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the extent of the victims injuries are unknown at this time.

Sheriff Bryan Welk states that the Sheriff’s Office received a report that an individual had been short around 11:26 pm on February 13. Upon arrival, they discovered the 34-year-old male, of Pine River, Minnesota, had been shot at a nearby residence while exiting a passenger vehicle. Emergency aid was rendered at the scene before the victim was transported to the hospital.

“Several witnesses to the incident were identified and interviewed and a suspect was quickly identified,” explained Welk. “A subsequent traffic stop on a vehicle was initiated and an adult male, age 47, of Hackensack MN was arrested.”

Welk went on to explain that initial investigation indicates that the victim and suspect were known to each other. He also stated there is no threat to the public and that the incident remains under investigation.
