One person displaced by Duluth fire

A representative from the City of Duluth reports that one person has been displaced after a fire on Tuesday afternoon, February 18. According to Kelli Latuska, the Public Information Officer for the City of Duluth, the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to the 4700 block of Oakley street shortly before 1:00 PM. A resident had seen flames and smoke coming from the one-story single-family home’s electric panel.

“Lakeside crews were first on scene within minutes and were assisted by crews from UMD, Headquarters, and Woodland stations,” said Latuska. “Crews were able to locate the fire inside the wall and extinguish it before it reached the attic.”

The home’s resident was able to evacuate, without injury, but is now displaced due to damage caused by the fire. Damages are estimated at $15-thousand.

The Duluth Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the incident.
