Opioids: a community conversation at the Duluth Library
Minnesota has reported that opioid-related deaths have tripled since 2018. While Wisconsin’s opioid-related deaths have doubled. With these statistics in mind, the Duluth Public Library teamed with the ClearPath Clinic from the Center for Drug and Alcohol Treatment wants to inform the public of everything related to opioids.

“One of the things that we want to accomplish is to get more people to call 911 when there’s overdoses, but also overdose prevention, Narcan administration training, a little more of the legal side of overdoses.” says, Jenn Villa the Program Director of the ClearPath Clinic. “It’s super hard. Once you start using opioids, you become physically dependent on them. And so when especially with prescription opioids, if you get cut off from your prescription and you can’t get them anymore, your body’s still dependent on them. So people turn to other ways of finding them, whether that be buying it off the street or turning to heroin.”
