Pearl Harbor memorial at Duluth Maritime Visitor Center
The Maritime Visitor Center in Duluth held a memorial service for the 83rd anniversary of the Suprise attack on the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor on Saturday December 7th.
The Duluth Harbor masters were there along with the Duluth honor guard to conduct the ceremony. Families of veterans who fought in WWII were there to see the 21-gun salute and the laying of the wreath.
Eight decades later the impact of Pearl Harbor is still felt by families here in the Northland.
“There aren’t a lot of veterans around anymore that were there, but it’s still important to remember because there are a lot of families of veterans who served in WWII,” said Assistant Director of the Maritime Museum Scott Bjorklund. “Pearl Harbor is important to all of their service. It’s still very much related to the Northland and to people that live here.”
The Duluth Maritime Museum is open Thursday through Monday from 10am till 4:30pm.
