It’s honeyberry season over at Farm LoLa located in Wrenshall. A honeyberry is a relative to the blueberry that originally is from Japan and northern Russia.
Farm LoLa was the first farm on the North American continent to grow the berries back in 2016 and it’s been a hit in the Northland ever since according to the Amundsen’s.
“Honeyberries are a very new flavor for a lot of people,” Says Brett Amundson, “and because we have 14 different varieties, each one has a little different taste to it.”
Brett says the flavor of the honeyberry is close to if a blueberry got mixed with a sweet tart.
When you visit Farm LoLa you can taste their different varieties and then they’ll give you a box and a crate to sit on, then you’re on you way to start picking.
