Planet Fitness has lower impact options to help keep your mobility going

On National Senior Citizens Day, a look at the lower impact options at Planet Fitness.

National Senior Citizen Day was established in 1988 when President Ronald Reagan signed his Proclamation 5847 declaring August 21st as National Senior Citizens Day. It read in part, “older people have achieved much for our families, our communities, and our country. That remains true today, and gives us ample reason this year to reserve a special day in honor of the senior citizens who mean so much to our land.”

Planet Fitness in Duluth offers focused, low impact exercises geared toward older adults.

Bailey Romans, the club manager, showed us their assisted machines. One is for arm circles, and the other is for seated marching.

Both machines are wheelchair accessible as well.

“We are seeing 30% of older adults having trouble with their mobility. So it’s really important people keep working on daily movement, and we have the machines to help them here,” Romans said.

She said you can also follow workouts on the Planet Fitness app for free.

Romans said they have about 6000 members at the Duluth location, which opened last year.
