Polar Cubs Childcare Center set to open Monday in Floodwood
With the crisis in childcare in the region, some good news out of Floodwood.
Polar Cubs Childcare Center is set to open on Monday, in a portion of the Floodwood School.
This all started when Dani Larva realized she desperately needed daycare. She found out hers was closing. “I had just had my daughter,” she remembers. That was in August of 2021.
She and others worked together tirelessly to create a non-profit, and get this going with the support and funding from organizations like the United Way of NE Minnesota and the Northland Foundation. St. Louis County is also a partner.
Teamwork is key, Larva shared. “There are so many gifts and talents and abilities that you might not have yourself. You’ll have much more success that way.”
Missy Conlon is the Director of Polar Cubs. “I started touring other daycares, to see what they had,” she shared. “We are so excited.”
Both women credit their trust in God in helping get them to this point.
There are 15 staff, and they are always looking for volunteers.
They also still have openings for your child.
There is an open house on Saturday from 11am-1pm. All are welcome, and there will be free lunch.
