Students at Proctor High School had the chance to focus on health care on Wednesday. That included seeing a real X-ray and practice moving a patient around. Some even did some pushups, at the security guard station.
Essentia Health brought different departments to the Field House for the health care career fair.
“When we have our lab scientists, who are able to come here and speak with passion as they look at samples. And our respiratory therapists who have been able to actually show our equipment hands on and say why they chose this career and how it inspired them. They can give those messages to kids in such a different way. That’s so important,” said Andrea Chartier, a Workforce Development Specialist for Essentia.
This is an annual tradition that is part of the Career Pathways program.
Nic Hanson, Student Readiness and Success Coordinator, said, “To get them to come down and and talk to professionals, I’ve seen their eyes light up, you know. They are starting to think about the possibilities and where they could go with their life.”
Students we met seemed to really enjoy being able to try the activities and the equipment.
