Professional barrel racer shares her love for teaching at Townline Farms' barrel racing clinic

Horse enthusiasts from near and far came together to learn how to barrel race at Townline Farms in Cloquet. The barrel racing clinic was a day-long event taught by professional barrel racer Jenelle Engstad, who says teaching has been a passion of hers her entire life.

“Growing up, when I was a teenager, I went to clinics and learned from the best of the best. I trained with world champions and went to their clinics. And then once I started winning, I just wanted to pass that knowledge down and kind of provide that for people because there’s not a whole lot of instructors out there that are there to mentor and teach people,” said Engstad.

And getting to share her knowledge with others gives back to those who helped her in her own barrel racing journey.

“I like to offer that to kind of help mentor and coach them and help them along the way because as a child growing up, I had that when I was young and was really grateful and appreciative to have those people teaching me and helping me along the way,” said Engstad.

And riders of all ages and levels got their chance in the saddle, and many did not come alone.

“A lot of it is family kind of based. So, when people come to lessons, their grandparents come, their moms come, their cousins, their sisters, their brothers. And so, it’s just really special to see everybody come together and watch their riding student improve,” said Engstad.
