Public meeting scheduled for Bong Bridge improvement project

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public meeting August 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Superior Public Library for the Bong Bridge improvement project. The library is located at 1530 Tower Ave.

The meeting will provide the public with additional information for proposed improvements to the Bong Bridge that brings US 2 traffic over the St. Louis River between Superior and Duluth.

Proposed improvements include spot painting, concrete repairs, replacing light bases and poles, sealing the bridge deck, and replacing rubber strip seal membrane. Work is planned for the summer of 2025.

Accessibility is being kept in mind for the meeting.

“The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible,” said Christena O’Brien with WisDOT. “Hard-of-hearing, deaf, deaf-blind or those with a speech disability should contact the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay Service via 711 at least three days before the meeting.”
