Puppies found in box on the side of the road brought to Animal Allies

Animal Allies Humane Society said Tuesday evening, December 17, that two good Samaritans brought in a box filled with five puppies that was found on the side of the road on US 53 between Virginia and Twig. The puppies were all in a standard storage box taped together with holes cut in it.

“While it’s devastating to see, we suppose you could call it a holiday miracle,” shared Animal Allies on a post to Facebook. “A miracle we are here to offer a safe place for them to land. A miracle someone stopped to checkout the box on the side of the road. A miracle all the puppies are alive and seemingly unharmed.”

Animal Allies is currently holding a fundraiser to help support the puppies’ journey to adoption

They said that 2024 has been a difficult year with continually rising costs, but that they are grateful to be here to support local pets.

“All of 2024 we have focused on ensuring the dogs and cats in our community are cared for,” they shared. “That means ensuring help for local pets is a top priority of our mission.”
