Results: Race for Minnesota Senate District 6 seat

Keri Heintzeman won the Republican primary for Minnesota Senate District 6 on Tuesday. Heintzeman previously worked as a district director for the Trump campaign in 2024. Some of her priorities include fiscal responsibility, personal freedom and government transparency.

Heintzeman will go up against the lone DFLer, Denise Slipy on April 29 in a special election. Slipy has served as a volunteer firefighter, first responder, corrections officer, and reserve officer.

Voters headed to the polls in northern Minnesota Tuesday to fill the seat of former state senator Justin Eichorn. The sixth district covers parts of Itasca, Crow Wing and Cass counties.

There are eight Republican candidates running in Tuesday’s Special Election Primary. They include Angel Zierdan, Steve Cotariu, Josh Gazelka, John Howe, Jennifer Carnahan, Keri Heintzeman, Matthew Zinda and Doug Kern.

As reported WDIO News, Eichorn was arrested less than a month ago and charged with attempting to solicit a teenage girl for prostitution. He later resigned from the state senate.
