Rainfall totals from Tuesday evening storms
Heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms moved across the Northland on Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning. Some roadways in the area saw standing water, as MnDOT reports southbound lanes of Highway 53 between Independence and Highway 8 has water on the road. At 10:30 a.m., the Highway 53 was reduced to one lane in this area.
The National Weather Service received reports of a road washed out less than 1 mile to the north of Automba in Carlton County. There were some minor reports of other washouts along County Road 135 near County Road 12. Drivers should use caution when driving on backroads near creeks and streams. There were other reports of downed trees near Automba as well.
Foxboro, Wisconsin saw some damage as well, with downed trees.
