A recognition dinner was held on the 15th of April for volunteers and youth that have earned the Eagle Scout rank in 2022.
The event was held at the Northland Country Club and the honorees includes those involved in and across the voyageurs area council in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Clark Gartwait, the District Director of the Voyagers Area Council for the Boys Scouts of America had this to say:
“Part of the Eagle Award is what they’ve done with earning merit badges. But they have to do a project and that project is for a community organization. So there’s lots of community service hours that go in and we’ll be recognizing these youth earlier with the projects that they’ve done to help out camps, shelters and churches in the community”
There was a Lifetime and Meritorious Service Award given to somebody that saved a fisherman out at Pike Lake. A recognizing award was also given to a couple of dignitaries as outstanding Eagles.
Gartwait also added that the scouting program could not have been delivered without the endless support and time committed by hundreds of adult volunteers in the Voyageurs area council. Saying the volunteers are co-workers, friends, and neighbors across the Northland, sharing their experiences and talents with youths involved in Scouting.
