Recount over in Lake County, Joe Baltich moves on in special election

Friday’s recount in Lake County for the special election for County Commissioner District 1 is now complete.

Joe Baltich came away with one more vote, which means he will move on to the general election.

After the primary, Baltich and Colby Abazs had 99 votes each. Paul Hartshorn had 97 votes.

The Lake County Auditor’s office said they found one undervote for Baltich, while the other totals remained the same.

Baltich will face Jack Nelson for the seat.

This is to fill the spot of former Commissioner Pete Walsh, who died earlier this year.
