Red Lake man pleads guilty in drunk driving crash
A Red Lake man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for a drunk driving crash that happened in 2021.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Gerald Wayne Johnson was driving while intoxicated on November 6, 2021. Court documents say the 27-year-old was driving above 90 miles per hour on a road with a posted speed limit of 20 miles per hour.
Authorities say Johnson lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a tree. There was one passenger in the car, who died from her injuries. Johnson’s blood alcohol content was .224.
Sentencing will be scheduled for a later date.
