Wesley ‘Snipes’ Kubat loved to ride his motorcycle. He was part of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, and was helping start a chapter in Grand Rapids.
There is a ride in his honor on Saturday. The 1st Annual Meatloaf Run starts at the VFW Post 1720 in Grand Rapids. You can register that day, and you can ride a motorcycle or drive in a car.
Kubat died by suicide in 2021. His mother, Joy, is now the President of the Board of Directors of the group Mothers of Veteran Suicide.
She told us that the CVMA has been extremely supportive of the family. “I would say they became his second family.”
“It’s going to be an emotional day, and bittersweet. It’s something he should be doing, or us with him,” she added. They live in North Branch, and were being escorted up to Grand Rapids on Friday, with members of the CVMA.
Registration is from 9am-10:30am, then kickstands up at 11am. At 4:30, the meatloaf meal will be served. That’s an additional $15.
Joy told us that Wesley would joke with the mother of one of his battle buddies about visiting, and would say, “Make the meatloaf, I’m coming to visit.”
Proceeds go to help veterans.
CVMA is growing. Carlton has a chapter as well.
