Rep. Pete Stauber will not run for U.S. Senate

U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber (R-Minnesota 8th Congressional District)
The office of Rep. Pete Stauber has confirmed that Stauber does not plan to run for U.S. Senate. His office did not wish to provide a statement.
The race for one of Minnesota’s two U.S. Senate seats opened up after Sen. Tina Smith announced she would not be seeking reelection. Smith, 66 years old, has been in office since 2018.
Since that announcement, Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan announced that she would be running for the seat. Republican Royce White, who lost to Senator Amy Klobuchar in November, has also implied he may be running again in 2026.
Sen. Klobuchar holds Minnesota’s other senate seat an is not up for reelection until 2030.
