Rescheduled Gunflint Mail Run canceled

After an attempt at rescheduling, the Gunflint Mail Run sled dog race has now been canceled.

Originally scheduled for Jan. 6, it was postponed to Feb. 10. But Monday morning, it was canceled entirely.

Warm temperatures and lack of snow in northern Minnesota caused the cancellation. The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, which had been planned to start Jan. 28, was also canceled.

The Northern Pines Sled Dog Race in Iron River, Wis., is still scheduled for Feb. 17, according to the website. The WolfTrack Classic in Ely, Minn., is also still planned for Feb. 25.
