Results are in for Wisconsin Assembly District 74’s Representative
The results are in for Wisconsin Assembly District 74’s next Representative. District 74’s incumbent candidate Chanz Green is the winner. The Associated Press reported an estimated 100% votes are in. Green received over 23,400 votes (62.5%), getting the majority over Jeanne Bruce winning an estimated 14,053 votes (37.5%).
Stretching from Solon Springs to Mercer, Bayfield to Phillips, Wisconsin’s 74th Assembly District is the largest in the state. Comprised of Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett and Iron Counties, as well as parts of Douglas and Sawyer Counties.
With an estimated 99% votes in Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron and Sawyer counties. Chanz Green won an estimated 2,217 votes (68%) in Ashland County compared to Jeanne Bruce who won 1,039 votes (31%). In Bayfield County, Green won 2,092 votes (62%), while Bruce secured 1,269 votes (38%). In Burnett County, Green garnered around 663 votes (63%) nearly double Bruce’s 388 votes (37%). Also in Iron County, Chanz Green won 2,556 votes (65%), but Jeanne Bruce (D) followed up with 1,380 votes (35%).
Over in Douglas and Sawyer Counties the race was a little more neck in neck between the two candidates. Green sustained the lead in Sawyer County with 6,367 votes (59.5%) while Bruce finished with 4,326 votes (40.5%). In Douglas County, Incumbent candidate Chanz Green won 2,602 votes (58%), and his opponent Jeanne Bruce won 1,876 votes (42%). In Washburn County, Greene won 6,903 (64.7%) and his opponent Bruce won 3,775 (35.4%).
A lifelong resident of Wisconsin Jeanne Bruce graduated Spooner High School. She earned her B.A. in Social Welfare at the UW-Eau Claire and a M.S. in Media Communications at the UW-Whitewater.
Bruce is the former Washburn County Supervisor, worked over 30 years in program and fund development with government agencies, non-profit programs and businesses. She also was a U.S. Senate Aide to Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI)
Some of Bruce’s plans are outlined on her campaign website. As a Progressive Democrat, Bruce plans on policies supporting vocational training, community colleges and public schools to create good jobs. Reducing taxes on working families by having corporations once again pay their fair share. Guaranteeing that women and families can make their own personal healthcare decisions.
Chanz Green was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, spending much of his childhood at his family’s cabin hunting and fishing. Green first began his public service career towards the end of high school, when he began working in municipal utilities.
About four years ago, he was hired as the utilities manager for the City of Ashland. He helped redesigning the city’s wastewater treatment system to prevent leaks and overflows of wastewater from ending up in Lake Superior. Green also served his community for over ten years as a volunteer firefighter.
Some of Green’s policies according to his campaign website are, preserving sportsmen’s rights, prioritizing workforce development, and making sure northern Wisconsin gets its fair share of infrastructure spending.
