There are several farms in the northland, but you be hard-pressed to find a farmer’s market with cold windy weather. Several farmers, and arts & crafts vendors set up a local market at Rice Lake city park for residents looking to support small businesses.
Carly Hungerford said the plan for a farmer’s market had some trouble, it was too late in the season. “We still wanted to advertise some kind of market for our local crafters and vendors,” Hungerford said. “We’ve had quite a few members of the community coming in and checking out what they have to offer.”
Hungerford also said not all the vendors made an appearance at the market due to poor weather conditions. “We had 11 different vendors sign up, but with the weather today, we’ve had five hardy vendors show up,” Hungerford said.
Hungerford said if people want to check out other local vendors in the community, they will be back on September 26th. “For folks that are busy on weekends, we have a weeknight event as well. Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm, we will be out again, hopefully with all of our vendors and better weather and they’ll be right here at Rice Lake City Park.”
