Rock Ridge does not renew Ben Johnson's contract as boys hockey coach
The only boys hockey head coach Rock Ridge has ever known is not being asked back to the Wolverines’ bench.
According to the minutes of Rock Ridge’s School Board meeting held on Monday, May 13, a motion to not renew Ben Johnson’s contract for the 2024-2025 school year was passed by a vote of 5-1.
Johnson led the Wolverines since their inception in 2021. They made the Section 7A championship game in 2023, and the Section 7AA semifinals this past season.
Per Youth Hockey Hub, Virginia native and Stanley Cup winner, Matt Niskanen is a candidate to take over the program.
