Schultz claims DFL spot, will rematch against Pete Stauber in November

Unofficial results from the August 13 primary show DFL candidate Jen Schultz as the winner, defeating John Munter for the DFL spot in the race for Minnesota’s 8th congressional district in November.

She’ll go on to face third-term incumbent Pete Stauber, who defeated primary challenger Harry Welty for the nomination.

The Associated Press called both primary races at 9:30 p.m. on August 13.

Stauber vs Schultz will be familiar for 8th district voters, as they previously faced off in 2022. In that election, Stauber won reelection by a margin of nearly 15% of the vote.

Stauber has served as the US representative for district 8 since 2019.

Schultz is a former state legislator, having served as the representative for district 7A from 2015 to 2023.
