Missing Duluth man found deceased
Update as of December 2: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports that Gregory Garmer was found deceased at around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2. Authorities state he had fallen through the ice.
“We would like to thank Sheriff Ramsey and the St Louis County Rescue Squad for their dedication and professionalism,” said a release from the office. “Their technology and expertise greatly contributed to a timely resolution for this tragedy. We also appreciate the assistance from the Superior Fire Department, Superior Police Department and MN State Patrol’s helicopter.”
Original Story: Crews are searching for a man who reportedly went ice skating on Woodstock Bay in Superior on Sunday, and then did not return.
Deputies were dispatched for the report of a missing person, who’s been identified as Gregory Garmer, who is 78-years-old and is from Duluth.
A search was started Sunday and continued Monday.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to review any cameras that may capture footage of the St. Louis River and surrounding bays.
Mr. Garmer was said to be wearing a red hooded jacket, black pants, hat, gloves and scarf. If anyone in the Billings Park area saw someone on the ice yesterday afternoon, please call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 715-394-4432.
