Second Harvest Northland’s, ‘Nourish the Northland’ campaign
Big changes are in the works for Second Harvest Northland. They held a grand opening for their new facility, along with kicking off the 2nd phase of their ‘Nourish the Northland’ campaign.
They are also working on increasing the number of meals provided to families in the Northland. The goal is to increase the food distribution from 11 million to 16 million by 2032.
Shaye Moris, the CEO and President of Second Harvest Northland, says they are close to their goal of reaching $20 million.
“We have these matching opportunities, which leverage even more dollars for our campaign. So if you were thinking of contributing before, now is a great time. They’re matching dollars to even expand the work of our organization,” Moris said. “We’ve raised $11 of $20 million dollars to complete our Nourish the Northland campaign. We were excited to announce some matches today, which hopefully will get us to the finish line.”
Part of ‘Nourish the Northland’s campaign is to have a section in their Second Harvest Northland facility become a new marketplace. The space will allow the non-profit to provide their services more directly to people with dignity and access.
“We’ve added on our freezer cooler, so we’ll increase our perishable food. We’re just excited about the future of our organization,” Moris said. “Come out and just tour our facility, see what it’s all about, become a volunteer, make a gift. Visit secondharvestnorthland.org. We have so many ways to be involved.”
As of February 27th, they collected over 1 million dollars in matching gifts to their capital campaign. The new facility will increase fresh and perishable food capacity by 300%. There’s also more space for dry
food capacity by 210%.
